Re-inventing the Stash

Ugly yarn from a swap (Before)

So I swapped some heavy cotton for this (and some other) sock yarn…. This stuff is Lorna’s Laces (not something I usually afford) -but the color… oh, the color. Soooo not my cup of tea!

So I decided to overdye it!

A good 2 glugs of vinegar, some hot water, a good bit of “Fire Red” Jaquard Acid dye and a few hours later, I have some much, much more attractive yarn (see below). I’m thinking of using it for this pattern. Because we all know how much I love Evelyn A Clark patterns!

I don’t know why, but I thought one could not overdye yarn like Lorna’s Laces. I’m weird. What a lovely pattern for this gorgeous yarn!

Wow – I can hardly believe that’s the same yarn! Beautiful job. There is a dyeing workshop coming up near me – so looking forward to it!

Like everyone else, I really like the red but I still liked the original 🙂 That pattern is really beautiful too.

WOW….I love the yarn, (before and after) and I really like that pattern. Can’t wait to see them finished.
I’m headed off to a little class today, to learn to dye roving and then….spin it!!! Yay…. we’ll see how it turns out…it might be blog worthy! hehe
