I feel inspired to make some slippers soon too--you'll have to report back on how the caulking goes. I think you should totally put buttons on. Using the same color tones would look very sophisticated if you had some shell or mother of pearl buttons. But bright ones would be fun, too! Bright blue would look really cute. Hello!
